Remarkable! Five petals form yellow tubular flower, with green base, 2" long. Yellow stamens and green stigma visible inside. Arrayed in small clusters.
Habit:
Tree Tobacco is a small tree or shrubs with smooth bark and oblong pointed leaves on petioles. Native to South America, it has achieved wide US distribution. Many regions consider tree tobacco invasive, perhaps for the way it monopolizes pollinators.
Observations:
Several specimens about 1/2 mile ENE of VVCSD water tanks, possibly oilfield property, Harris Grade in the distance. Also on the shoulder of Harris Grade Rd., just below the oil plant.
