White Horehound has a labiate, lipped, white flower, about 1/4" tall. The upper lip has two narrow lobes and the lower lip has two small and one much larger lobe.
Flowers form a spherical cluster in a whorl about the stem, about one inch diameter. The whorls form at leaf nodes at the top and appear to continue as the plant grows.
Habit:
White Horehound is a perennial. One or more stems rise from the plant base, 6–24 inches. Fine white hair covers each stem. Pairs of leaves grow several inches apart along the stem. The pale green leaves are scalloped and rough, having indentations over the veins and ribs.
Foliage has many medicinal uses. Non-native, distributed thru 45 states, sunny.
Habit:
Middle of oil field driveway, so the area is highly disturbed.
