Seaside Heliotrope
Heliotropium curassavicum
Family: Heliotropiaceae
Flowers — color: white, size: 1/4", type: 5 petals
The Seaside Heliotrope flower has five white petals, 1/8–1/4" diameter. Each petal shows a faint central vein. The mouth begins yellow and ages to purple. Unlike other heliotropes, these lack aroma.
Each stem develops one or more flower spikes. Each spike is a helicoid cyme, an array of buds attached to a straight stem, blooming sequentially from bottom to top, and the top curls away from previous flowers.
Habit:
Seaside Heliotrope is a perennial herb. The green fleshy stems branch but generally spread along the surface. Pale green fleshy leaves are oblanceolate, narrow base and broader near the tip. Sunny.
